Teaching philosophy

A goal of teaching physics is to provide students experience with empirical data and theoretical models that enable both understanding of these data and prediction of new directions for investigation. To support this, I endeavor to make learning physics an active process in which my students grapple with phenomena in the laboratory and the mathematical and reasoning tools that support the theoretical models. It is my hope that these experiences encourage not only an understanding of the specific phenomena, but also a knowledge of the human process of science, and an inquisitive nature to see deeply into the workings of the universe.
